Privacy Screens

Custom routed privacy screens offer a modern way to add style, shade, and separation to residential and commercial spaces. Using precision CNC routing, we cut aluminium, composite, and other sheet materials into decorative or architectural patterns tailored to your project. Privacy screens are commonly used for fencing, balconies, outdoor entertaining areas, facades, and internal partitions. Each panel is routed to your specified design, allowing for anything from simple geometric patterns to complex custom artwork. Our CNC routing ensures clean, consistent cuts and precise repeatability, making it ideal for both one-off panels and larger production .

Batten Fencing

Batten fencing has become a popular choice for modern homes and architectural builds, offering clean lines and a strong visual impact. We CNC route aluminium bottom rails to suit vertical battens, ensuring consistent spacing and precise alignment across the entire fence or screen. Each rail is machined to your specified batten size and spacing, allowing installers to simply position and secure the battens into the routed slots. This creates a straight, uniform finish while significantly reducing installation time on site. Our CNC routing ensures every slot is cut accurately and consistently, making it ideal for residential fencing, gates, privacy screens, and architectural facades.

Sliding Gates

We provide precision CNC routing for aluminium rails and components used in sliding gate frames. Our routing ensures accurate slots, cut-outs and connection points so gate systems fit together cleanly and operate smoothly. Working from supplied drawings or specifications, we machine aluminium sections to exact measurements, maintaining consistency across every piece. This level of accuracy helps fabricators and installers achieve reliable gate alignment and a clean finished result. Our routing services are commonly used for sliding gate frames, support rails and other aluminium components used in residential and architectural gate systems.

Pedestrian Gates

We provide precision CNC routing for aluminium components used in pedestrian gate frames. Our routing allows for accurate cut-outs, slots and fixing points so gate components assemble cleanly and align correctly during installation. Using CNC machining, aluminium sections can be routed to exact specifications from supplied drawings, ensuring consistent results across every piece. This helps fabricators achieve a precise fit while maintaining the clean, modern finish expected in architectural gate systems. Our routing services are commonly used for pedestrian gates in residential fencing, entry gates and architectural projects where accuracy and repeatability are essential.

Hand-Railing

We CNC route aluminium components used in hand railing systems for stairs, balconies and elevated walkways. Our machining allows for precise openings, fixing points and connection details so railing sections install neatly and securely. By working from supplied drawings, we ensure every component is produced to exact dimensions, helping fabricators achieve accurate alignment and a clean finished installation.

Balustrades

We CNC route aluminium components used in hand railing systems for stairs, balconies and elevated walkways. Our machining allows for precise openings, fixing points and connection details so railing sections install neatly and securely. By working from supplied drawings, we ensure every component is produced to exact dimensions, helping fabricators achieve accurate alignment and a clean finished installation.

Facades

We use CNC routers to make aluminium components used in architectural façade systems, producing detailed cut-outs and feature elements required for modern building designs. From decorative screening to functional façade components, our routing allows complex patterns and shapes to be manufactured accurately and consistently. This capability supports architects, fabricators and builders looking to incorporate custom aluminium elements into façade designs while maintaining clean lines and a professional finish.

How it Works

How the process works:

  • Submit a New Job Request via our website or email through your job details including job type (straight, louvre slotting, elliptical, round or custom), slat size, gaps (in mm) and number of slats. Include a CAD drawing (if available) or sketch. All jobs require CAD drawings and we offer this service for a $20 fee per job
    - Clearly label your material with your company name and Purchase Order (PO) number & phone number
    - Deliver your aluminium to our factory once it has been cut to finished lengths. Nelsons Routing is open between 6:30am – 4:30pm. Monday to Friday.

  • We complete the routing and notify you when it is ready for collection.

Need material supplied or cut to size?

We can also supply aluminium and cut it to length before routing if required. This is popular for customers who prefer a full supply and machining service.

Shipping Available

While many routing jobs are local drop-off and collection, we can supply material, machine it, and ship Australia-wide for selected customers and projects.

If you are unsure about drawings, tolerances, or job setup, simply contact our team and we will help guide you through the process.

Frequently asked questions

What services does Nelsons Routing offer?

Nelsons Routing provides precision CNC routing services for aluminium materials, including slotting, cut-outs and custom machining. We can router aluminium box sections, flat bars, angles, channels, tubing and other extrusions use for aluminium gates, privacy screens, batten fencing, hand-railing, balustrades, facades and more.

Can I bring my own aluminium already cut to length and have you rout the slots into them?

Yes - this is one of our core services.

Most of our Nelsons Routing customers supply their own aluminium material. We can rout slots, holes, or profiles into your aluminium box sections starting and stopping precisely where you require, using CNC machining for accurate and repeatable results.

Can you rout full 6.5 meter lengths?

Yes. We can rout any length of aluminium you require.

Do you rout slots into flat bar and angle or just box section?

At Nelsons Routing we can router flat bar, Aagle, channel, box sections and most aluminium extrusions.

How long does it usually take to have my aluminium routed once I’ve dropped it off?

Nelsons Routing turnaround is usually 2-3 days depending on the size of the job.

Does Nelsons Routing machine out lock boxes, mortice locks, striker cutouts and finger latches etc?

Yes we do. We also do cutouts for automatic sliding gate wheels and much more!

Can you rout slots into my aluminium rails even if I don’t have CAD drawings?

Yes, just simply drop off your ally and tell us what approximate gaps or overlap you want and we will take care of the rest! We charge a fee of $20 per job for CAD drawings.

What does routing mean at Nelsons Routing?

Routing is the high-precision process of cutting, shaping, and slotting aluminium using advanced CNC routers and machining centres. At Nelsons Routing, we specialise in perfectly aligned slots, holes, and custom shapes for aluminium box sections, tubing, flat bars, angles, and channels - used for privacy screens, batten fencing, gates, hand-railing, balustrades, facades, and more. Our CNC technology ensures flawless alignment, precision blade fit, and accurate custom-length machining with expert CAD support.

What materials can Nelsons Routing work with?

We primarily work with aluminium, including box sections, round tubing, flat bars, angles, and channels. This versatile approach allows us to create components for a wide range of applications, from privacy screens and batten fencing to sliding gates, pedestrian gates, hand-railing, balustrades, and façade panels.

How precise is Nelsons Routing’s CNC machining?

Our CNC routers and machining centres are capable of micron-level precision. We ensure slots and cuts start and end exactly at the edges of mitre cuts, guaranteeing perfect alignment, precise blade fit, and a professional finish every time.
